How do I paint to give an antiqued or a distressed gold finish?
I want to paint my bakers rack a gold finish, but I would like it to look antiqued or distressed. Can someone please tell me how and what paint to get. This is an iron bakers rack.

American Accents makes a kit called "Antique Gold" that includes the gold spray paint and distressing solution to give a distressed gold finish. It's extremely to use and the cost is about $10.00-$13.00 for the kit. It can be found at any Lowes or Home Depot. I have also seen it in craft stores and Walmart(craft section). I purchased mine at Home Depot. In addition, this look can also be achieved by taking Rustoleum gold spray paint and spraying the bakers rack, then take brown shoe polish and rub over gold paint in various areas to get distressed time worn look. This replicates antiquing solution. Also, actual antiquing solution can be bought at any Walmart or craft store as well. I have used the American Accents kit which is incredibly simple 2 part process. Just spray the gold on over the metal surface, let dry and then use antiquing solution over it and let dry. It has a great look. I have used this technique over black iron myself. So simple and such a great impact.
